I’m Alja Berk — a certified ANZCAL coach with a background in BSc Business and MSc Health Economics, Policy and Law.
After years in corporate data-driven strategy consulting, I chose a different path: supporting coaches, therapists, mentors, healers, yogis, and creatives in building authentic businesses that align with their values and create financial freedom. I believe one changemarker helping people grow, heal & learn impacts not just these people, but their whole communities. This is how I see real impact being made.
Since 2019, I’ve worked with over 240 clients worldwide, blending strategy, structure, and empowerment to help conscious entrepreneurs thrive. Apart from that I also do career and inner empowerment coaching, and teach yoga nidra in my own community.
I grew up in the early nineties on a small farm in Lukovica, Slovenia, surrounded by nature, family, and a connected community.
From a very young age, understanding people and their behaviors felt like second nature to me. I would observe those around me, noticing how their experiences shaped their lives. I loved being around people.
(Jaka, Luka and I are on the photo).
I felt grateful for the love and support I had, and this deepened my compassion for others. Encouraging people to realize their full potential was something I did instinctively since I remember. For example I’d be the one tutoring my neighbours and writing out a school performance program for my class.
Life brought its own challenges when I lost my mother and grandparents during my teenage years. This period taught me a lot about grief, strength, and the importance of living fully in the moment. It pushed me to become my own source of healing and motivation.
As a saggitarous (& ‘ENFJ’ by Myer and Briggs and a ‘Generator’ by Human Design if you care about these things) I’ve always been very adventurous. This lead me to study in the Netherlands, solo travel to Southeast Asia, travel to 32 countries in total, and later to live in a campervan in New Zealand, embracing life’s simplicity.
Unsure of which career path to follow, I started by earning a degree in Business and Economics to gain a broad understanding of how the world works. I then pursued a master’s in Health Economics, hoping to direct my knowledge toward helping others.
In my early career, I navigated the Dutch corporate landscape in Rotterdam, handling analytically demanding projects in regulatory medicinal reimbursement and commercial market research for big companies like AstraZeneca, Amgen, Pfizer, IKEA, Unilever, Danone, and Heineken.
Though my global consultancy roles offered valuable opportunities, connections, and insights into science, business, and strategy, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t the right fit for my people-oriented personality or the person I aspired to become.
I wanted to connect with people on a more personal level and make a meaningful impact by empowering them holistically – an area where society, I believe, still has a long way to go. In 2019, I completed a five-day intensive course to earn my coaching certification.
After completing my coaching course (and despite the limited support of those around me), I took the bold step of leaving the corporate world. I got employed as a community manager in Auckland’s coworking space for purpose-driven businesses. Alongside, I opened my coaching business, marking one of the most empowering moments of my life.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of supporting over 240 men and women.
People I’ve helped span diverse nationalities (New Zealand, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Slovenia and more), and include corporate managers, conscious entrepreneurs and growth-focused individuals. Together, we work to deepen self-awareness, navigate challenges, and build purpose-driven lives.
Initially, I coached through single sessions, but they weren’t sustainable.
After analyzing client challenges, I created guided programs for lasting results.
Working with people from diverse backgrounds deepened my understanding of psychology and business, while also developing various hands-on skills (such as website building, BD, and marketing).
In the beginning of my coaching journey, I’ve taken on various side jobs and projects in the people space to keep my stability.
These included Learning & Development initiatives, culture change, team building, upskilling, community management, and marketing for purpose-driven organizations.
On the side my main focus has always been coaching.
In 2023, my Dutch partner and I have moved to the Slovenian countryside, where we enjoy gardening, long walks, hosting friends and family from around the world, organizing Yoga Nidra classes, and building a stable, free future.
Since February 2025 I run my coaching business full-time, while navigating life’s ups and downs.
Being a coach isn’t always easy, as the profession often carries a mixed reputation. At times, I feel misunderstood, even though my goal is to help others and create the life I aspire to.
That’s why connecting with like-minded communities is essential for me. Women’s circles, conscious entrepreneurial networks, and well-being festivals (where I can also facilitate) give me a sense of belonging and the motivation to keep moving forward.
My coaching is shaped by my own experiences of finding a meaningful career, building a conscious business, growing within, and staying true to myself in my relationships and lifestyle. I know what it’s like to feel lost or stuck, and I use those experiences to guide others.
However, I believe that your path is yours alone—I’m here to guide, not to give advice that don’t feel right or claim to know what’s best for you. My approach combines strategic guidance and compassionate support with a focus on both personal growth and actionable outcomes. I may share stories, processes and strategies that have worked for me and my clients, but how you adapt them is entirely up to you.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible people from all walks of life. Each client has taught me as much as I’ve helped them, and together we’ve created lasting change. I strive to offer my services at rates that are both fair and accessible, shaped by the feedback of those I’ve worked with. I believe deeply in the value of what I offer and remain committed to making it available to those who need it.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your personal or professional life, I’d love to support you. Whether you’re looking to grow as a person, advance your career, or start a conscious business, we can work together to make it happen. This journey is about more than just achieving goals—it’s about finding joy, meaning, and fulfillment along the way.
